The sheriff was ordered there to return the sequestered goods but refuses adequate compensation; cpl thereupon secured a warrant from the Court of the Marches, upon which the sheriff cast cpl into prison and irons at Usk, thus forcing him finally to appeal to this court.

Misdemeanours committed upon cpl for the suing of a previous suit (?), against first def in this court, —cruelly executing his own process out of Queen's Bench as sheriff of the shire; assault upon cpl's wife and children; further assault upon cpl and his servants, casting them into the common jail and putting them in irons, refusing them bail and imprisoning them for seventy days; refusal to obey a supersedeas from Queens Bench; cruelly beating cpl's servant who served a process, from this court upon def and imprisoning him in the stocks. Action upon the great quarrel between Henry, earl of Pembroke, owner of the manors of Usk, Caerlleon and Trelech, on the one hand, and cpls on behalf of all the rest of the tenants and inhabitants of the manor, on the other hand, concerning common of estovers at Glasgoed, Wisewood and Gwehelog. The woods being felled, cpls issued a bill against the feller Ricd Henberry of London under the care of first def; corruption of the said def and his failure to present the bill, presenting instead a supplication to the Lord Chancellor; counterfeiting an award of attorney, compromising the suit to the grievous loss of cpls and commencing a suit at the court of the Marches for the recovery of his expenses therein; perjury before a commission appointed by that court and sitting at Glasgoed, so that pls were forced to pay the costs of that action.
