Guidelines:

  • Do not enter English words that are incredibly common (e.g., "is," "the," "John")
  • If the English word is in apposition to its Latin form, note both
  • Enter if there is ambiguity as to whether the word is English or French: this is raw material
  • Enter alphabetically, not chronologically
  • Indicate if you have checked the OED for significance

Frith: 1319. Ricardus Inthe Frith clericus. Not early for OED, but perhaps helpful for meaning. [5]

Furbur: 1319. Simonem le Furbur. French? but even then early for OED. [6]

Glover: 1319. Phillipum le Glovere. OED earliest usage is 1464. [7]

Harefot: 1319. Willelmus Harefot. OED earliest usage is 1410. [8]

Hosiere: 1319. Baionem Le Hosiere. OED earliest usage is 1403. [9]

Lightfote: 1319. Johannes Lightfote. OED earliest use 1325 for animal. [10]

Mazerer: 1319. Robertus le Mazerer. OED has mazer, but not mazerer. [11]

Pykoys: 1319. unum malleum ferreum, unum gaveloke, sex canillos (?), et unum pykoys, et alia bona et catalla. OED: earliest 1256 (a pick) [15]

Surgien: 1319. Johannes de Totenham surgien. Ambivalent if English. OED: earliest English usage 1330. [16]

Swinehird: 1319. per Simonem le Swinehird. From OED relatively early. [17]

Whelewright: 1319. Laurencius le Whelewright. OED: earliest 1281. [18]
